To be a FIRE Carrier is to exercise an important role in the school community. FIRE carriers are students and teachers that share a passion for learning about Aboriginal culture and history and are committed to sharing this knowledge and promoting reconciliation within and beyond the school community.
Following are examples of the actions the FIRE Carriers undertake:
- Raising the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags
- Leading Acknowledgement of Country at assemblies, flag raising and other events
- Helping with Reconciliation activities
- Writing prayers around issues concerning First Australians
- Encouraging the use of Aboriginal Liturgy
- Acknowledging traditional custodians
- Fundraising for Indigenous Literacy Foundation and Opening The Doors Foundation
- Helping to write and action their school’s Covenant
- Celebrating significant dates in our shared story
- Attending FIRE Carrier meetings
