POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR INTERVENTION & SUPPORT
PBIS is a school wide, proactive approach, which emphasises the instruction of social skills, data-based decision making, and the prevention of problematic behaviour. While fostering positive behaviours and interactions, PBIS also improves academic performance.
At St. Joseph's, we believe in teaching the students how to behave, rather than expecting them to just know what to do in a school environment. We have four school wide expectations: We are Respectful, We are Safe, We are Reponsible, We are Learners. These expectations underpin our teaching and learning in regards to behaviour.
Schoolwide expectations are developed with students and staff and on display throughout each space.
Raffle Tickets- Students are awarded raffle tickets for positive behaviour - both individual and class behaviour. Each week at assembly students are selected for prizes. At the end of each term, classes participate in celebration of their learning.
Student Of The Week- Every week each teacher chooses a 'Student of the Week' from their class. The student and the reason for them receiving the award are included in the weekly newsletter.
If you have any questions relating to PBIS or the PBIS program at St.Joseph's please see the Principal to discuss them.
